Thrift Store Score - homecoming edition

I know it's now officially Christmas season but look at my fun score from the thrift store....

HOMECOMING LETTERS! You know, the glittery ones you stick on homecoming mums. I found 2 bags of them for about $5 total. Do you know much fun homecoming letters can be? Just look at 'em!

Obviously, they'll make for some fancy Christmas gift tags with everybody getting tags with their initiasl on them. But some of these can be a little more silly.

Hello? Emoticons! amiright?

Of course, I could just use a mess of stickers to cover something and make it all shiny like. They'd make a fun crazy frame around a mirror. No telling, until I get started.

Bad picture but good intentions. These I's would make some cool stripes!

...and to all a good night!

I fall to pieces...

...or Tale of a Short-lived Delight.

Imagine exactly that: my delight when I found this adorable pair of vintage ashtrays (paired together for no apparent reason) for only $1.50. One, a gold leaf with 24k gold glazed on it. The other, a perfectly sweet and frou-frou light blue, mid century ashtray with gold paint brushed all over it. I drove home with them thinking of all the trinkets I as going to fill them with at my vanity!

Now imagine my dismay when I walked though the door, went to set my purse down and let go, instead, of the bag with the ashtrays in it. I knew instantly that they were broken. WAH!!!

Well I got out the glue and tried to put it all together...and I almost did it. But when I got down to two pieces to join...they just didn't. So now instead of a dreamy, beautiful, vintage piece in my bedroom colors...I have something that looks like a second grade Father's Day project.

The good news is the smaller one, the gold leaf, made it through with just a little nick and was fixed easy peasy...so it's not a total loss.

Note to self: Ceramics break. Easily. Pay attention.

Measure Twice!...The Little Camper part II

Well, we all know the old saying; measure twice, cut once. What happens if you don't even measure once? You wind up with a sad face.

I know this because I wore one when I realized I had an awesome fabric find that I couldn't use. BOO! So "what had happen wuz", I went into my attic to find more fun fabric to use in my camper makeover. What I found was this adorable, single Waverly curtain  panel (from the thrift store of course).

I was stoked to finally use it and that it originally cost me 1.90! Now, imagine my excitement when I went to thr thrift store found a set of three panels of the SAME pattern for $5.00!!

Too good to be true, right? Right. You see, the fabric is sweet and the buys were a steal but, alas, they are TOO SHORT for my intended windows!!! I got so swept away by the find that I didn't even notice they wouldn't fit. Now don't get me wrong, I'll still find good use for this pretty pattern....but it won't be for camper curtains.
